The first thing which hits you into the face when taking Parisian metro is the diversity of the people. I have experienced that the regular white European was a little bit shocked. Nevertheless, the men in the metro and, basically not only men but both genders, wear really nice scarfs. It is not so cold in Paris these days in February, it’s not snowing and you can see the colourful and patterned scarfs around necks. It is so chic! Really! And it is something for me because I enjoy wearing them. The metro is the essential public transport, of course. First time I took it, I was the regular white European who has no idea what is going on. I can give you a list of activities which you should’t try in Parisian metro:
I know it sounds ridiculous and I hope you have much more pleasant experience but for now, this is the way it works. I try the tactics with the scarf and in 9 cases from 10 I‘ve used it as a cover of my nose. So here it is! No fashion, it has actually great practical purpose. Before I left to Paris, I was warned from my friends and relatives that the metro stinks badly. They were always like:“My friend said to me and the friend of my friend been there once and he said....“bla bla bla so I didn‘t quite believe. I don‘t say they wanted to make me feel worse before the departure but they just warned me. Rightfully. | Otherwise, I’ve seen for the first time beautiful Louvre and I will coming back every first Sunday in the month (that day museums in Paris are free of charge for everyone!) Sweet! I though one day for Louvre is fine, but there is no chance you can see everything in a single day! The museum is large and spacious and every time you visit, it will surprise you with something you haven‘t seen yet. However, the reason I visit Louvre complex was the Tuileries Palace. Haha, yes. Absolutely amazing and the strategic place of the French Revolution. You can feel the history. When the royal family has to leave Versailles, they and Louis XVI. had to live here, poor them. In addition, the gardens surrounding the palace are enourmous and also have their place in the French history – Parisians have been gathering here for ages. it has been an inspiration for painters and artists such as Manet. The more I see from Paris, the more I feel like poor person and I’m able to perceive the importance of these buildings in the past. Just imagine, small Parisian houses and then in the city centre along the Seine - these monuments. It’s comical, faraons had the same strategy – the bigger palace the more powerful I’m and it was BC...even in 17th century kings used it and somewhere in the world the bigger house you have the powerful and richer you are and people have to know it! Isn’t it ridiculous? On the one hand, yes, on the other hand, the wishes of great monarchs came true – they are immortal and forever with us. |

Yes, it was my decision to spend 5 months in France. Oh, sorry, in Paris, do you feel the difference? You know what people say about Paris? It is a beautiful city, city of love, Eiffel Tower, flowers, couples, kissing, wine, merde and bonjour or in the reverse order. Sometimes, I think that the reason of their visit is mainly the iron construction, which is only 128 years old, incredible. There must be many more amazing places. There are. Anyway, it’s not a purpose of my stay here. For those who don’t know me, I’m a regular Czech girl, ok, maybe I’m not the right example of a Czech person but I’m definitely from a regular Czech family. When I was young (I’m gonna be 21 but you know, the experience makes you older and older. The more you have, the older you feel), I travelled pretty lot. And when my A-levels were closer, I decided to apply for the University of Worcester #uow. It was still the best decision of my life.
I wish you to be richer in your experience than in your pockets…
